What started as a recommendation by the Corporate Multiple Management Board became a reality when the McCormick Retiree Association officially began operation. The purpose of the association is to involve retirees in social and volunteer activities in the community, assist other McCormick Retirees as needed, and provide communication between retirees and the Company.  The initial branch of the association will be in the Baltimore area with more branches planned for other locations with a high concentration of retirees. At a luncheon held this spring, officers and directors of the association were installed.  They include:

“I am amazed at the long service to the Company of all of you here today,” CEO Bailey Thomas said at the luncheon.  “At my table there are 231 years of service to McCormick represented by those in attendance.  That’s something special, and it pays off for McCormick.  You are part of the family, and I offer this association my support and congratulations.”

“I’m thrilled by the turnout here, and we’re all very excited about the future of this group,” Audrey Abrams, association president said.  “Social activities will be announced as they are planned, and there will be approximately two association meetings per year.”

“We will plan a variety of lunches, dinners and various bus trips,” Audrey added.  “We also want to join forces to perform volunteer work in the community.  So far, the response has very enthusiastic.  Many of these people had 20, 30 and even 40 years with McCormick.  You just don’t drop that connection because you retire.”

Audrey started in 1946 as part of the steno pool, left in 1951 to return four years later.  She retired in 1983 as an officer of the Company with her final position being Assistant Treasurer.
